APPIX AND DISNEY/PIXAR BRING THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL TO LIFE WITH STAR-STUDDED LIVE TO FILM PERFORMANCE OF COCO
FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, AUDIENCE MEMBERS WILL EXPERIENCE THE LIVE EVENT APP, AT ONE OF DISNEY’S MAGICAL LIVE TO FILM CONCERT EXPERIENCES.
NOVEMBER 2, 2019 (LOS ANGELES, USA) – It may be the Day of the Dead, but APPIX is making the Hollywood Bowl come alive with Disney-Pixar’s Coco for one weekend only on Friday November 8th and Saturday November 9th, 2019.
Disney-Pixar’s Coco will be reimagined as a magical Live Film to Concert experience – and APPIX will be there to enhance the magic for every audience member, with some very special production moments – brought to life through their very own smartphones!
“When Disney invited us to help them create magical moments for Coco The Live Film Concert experience, you could say that APPIX ‘seized the moment’,” said APPIX CEO, James Brett in a nod to one of the film’s memorable lines. “The team at APPIX were honoured to bring another level of live event production to Disney’s renowned concert film experiences and share the magic with the audience in ways never before possible.”
Attendees will see the legendary Hollywood Bowl transformed into the Land of the Dead with immersive décor, special effects, and thematic Day of the Dead activities. Throughout the show, magic abounds as APPIX lights up the phones of attendees to create colorful and memorable moments that are harmonized with the show’s lighting, production, animation, the film and live performances.
The spectacular show in Los Angeles will include an all-star lineup of special guests including Benjamin Bratt, Eva Longoria, Carlos Rivera, Miguel, Alanna Ubach, Alex Gonzalez, Jaime Camil, Lele Pons, Rudy Mancuso and Natalia Jimenez. All of whom will make appearances throughout the event as the award-winning film plays on the massive screen, accompanied by a full, live orchestra. A variety of special music guests will entertain the audience with traditional Mariachi music throughout the evening.
Conductor Sarah Hicks will lead the full orchestra performing Oscar®-winning composer Michael Giacchino’s original score along with special guests performing the film’s songs including Academy Award®-winner for Original Song “Remember Me,” as well as “Un Poco Loco,” “The World Es Mi Familia,” and many more.
The concert is produced by Disney Concerts and Live Nation/Andrew Hewitt & Bill Silva Presents, a team who has performed together several highly acclaimed live to film events at the Hollywood Bowl including Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in Concert starring Zooey Deschanel and Kelsey Grammer as well as Disney’s The Little Mermaid starring Lea Michele and Harvey Fierstein.
APPIX is designed as an in-venue application, meaning its functions are restricted to the confines of the venue. Prior to showtime, fans are instructed (either via ticketing email or on-site signage) to download the free app from the iPhone App store or Google play to their phone. Throughout the show, APPIX cues the user of an upcoming APPIX Moment. After that, the phone’s screen and flashlight display real-time visuals that augment the event and audience experience.
The newly launched in-venue smartphone APPIX app uses proprietary Bluetooth based transmission technology that operates without any pairing and requires no cellular data or WiFi or user signup. Event organizers can engage audiences like never before with exclusive promotions, weather and emergency alerts, and custom content.
